Opening Night Photos for 33 Variations at the CTG/Ahmanson

The five-time Tony-nominated production of  33 Variations with Jane Fonda, written and directed by Moisés Kaufman, opened Wednesday at the CTG/Ahmanson Theatre. Stars like Cher, Colin Ferrell, Peter Fonda, Anjelica Huston, Christian Slater and Rosanna Arquette ventured downtown for the re-tooled LA mounting.

Fonda was nominated for the Tony Award for her role in the show’s 2009 Broadway run.  The Tectonic Theater Project production was also nominated for a Tony, as was Zach Grenier for his portrayal of Beethoven, Derek McLane for scenic design (who won) and David Lander for lighting.

Fonda and Grenier are joined by Samantha Mathis, Don Amendolia, Susan Kellermann, Greg Keller, Grant James Varjas, Diane Walsh, Scott Barrow, Caitlin O’Connell and Yvonne Woods Slaten.

33 Variations, produced by Tectonic Theater Project for Center Theatre Group, opens Feb. 9; plays Tue.-Fri., 8 pm; Sat., 2 and 8 pm; Sun., 1 and 6:30 pm; through March 6. Tickets: $20-$80. Ahmanson Theatre, 135 N. Grand Ave., Los Angeles; 213.972.4400 or centertheatregroup.org/33.
