A top ten most produced plays was printed in American Theatre‘s annual Season Preview issue in October. The numbers are as reported to the Theatre Communication Group at press time by its member theatres nationwide. As of the 2009-10 season the Top Ten List omits holiday themed shows (such as The Santaland Diaries and A Christmas Carol – both of which had solidly placed in the top ten the past few years) as well as works by Shakespeare. This year seems to have a good mix of classics, crowd pleasers, and relatively new work being produced across the country.
Check in every Monday to see if one of these shows is being produced at a theatre near you in our Opening/Closing post.
